Gray and wood new build residence in Black Mountain, North Carolina exterior

Daydream Ridge

High Hickory Neighborhood, Asheville, NC

Completed in 2025, this mountain modern custom home in Black Mountain, North Carolina exemplifies our studio’s approach to contemporary residential design grounded in place. Perched to take full advantage of panoramic Blue Ridge Mountain views, the home is carefully sited and designed to foster a seamless connection between architecture and landscape.

The design blends clean, modern lines with a warm, natural material palette, offering a refined interpretation of modern mountain architecture. Exterior finishes include wood, stone, and metal, chosen for their durability and their ability to weather gracefully in the Western North Carolina climate. Inside, a minimalist composition of white and soft gray surfaces is complemented by light natural wood tones, creating a serene yet inviting atmosphere.

An open floor plan emphasizes visual clarity and livability, with expansive glazing and large sliding doors framing long-range mountain vistas while maximizing natural light. This strong indoor-outdoor relationship is central to the design, allowing each space to feel rooted in its surroundings.

Functionally, the home is designed for modern living, with efficient circulation, generous communal spaces, and private areas that prioritize comfort without compromising simplicity. The architectural language is restrained yet expressive—favoring thoughtful details and enduring materials over ornamentation.

This project reflects our commitment to creating site-responsive custom homes that elevate everyday living through design. Balancing contemporary aesthetics with regional context, the residence stands as a quiet yet confident addition to the Black Mountain landscape.
