This retail upfit project transformed an existing commercial space into Apotheca, a modern alternative health product dispensary focused on wellness education and customer comfort. Located in the heart of Western North Carolina, Apotheca provides a thoughtfully curated selection of health and wellness products—including hemp-based offerings—within a safe, approachable, and aesthetically engaging environment.
Our architectural team approached this upfit with a deep understanding of the client’s mission: to educate the public on the benefits of alternative health products while creating a space that feels welcoming, trustworthy, and professional. The resulting design balances clean modern lines with natural textures and sustainable materials, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to both health and environmental responsibility.
Custom millwork and product display systems were integral to the space’s design. One of the standout architectural features is the use of custom-designed paddles that hold product display shelving—providing visual interest while allowing for modularity and flexibility in the merchandising strategy. The design team also created a custom hemp-based table, which serves as both a material showcase and functional centerpiece, reinforcing the company’s values and product origins.
Additional architectural elements include a refined sales wall and custom counters, designed for both efficiency and aesthetics. These pieces were built to enhance staff workflow while contributing to a seamless customer experience. Lighting and finishes were carefully selected to create a calming, spa-like ambiance that encourages thoughtful engagement with the products.
