Cornerstone Physical Therapy

218 Elkwood Ave, #103, Asheville, NC

Our architecture firm was proud to partner with Cornerstone Physical Therapy, a family-owned and operated healthcare provider, to design their second clinic location in the growing North Asheville/Woodfin area. With an established reputation for compassionate, hands-on care, Cornerstone sought to expand their services into a new facility that reflects their values, enhances patient experience, and supports modern physical therapy practices.

The goal for this healthcare architecture project was to create a welcoming, efficient, and highly functional clinical environment tailored to both patients and staff. Working closely with the client, we delivered a complete interior buildout that transformed a previously underutilized commercial space into a vibrant, professional medical office designed for long-term growth.

Key design elements include an open and accessible reception area, multiple private treatment rooms, a large, light-filled rehabilitation gym, and administrative offices. The layout emphasizes intuitive flow, ensuring smooth movement between check-in, treatment, and recovery areas. Durable, cleanable materials were specified throughout to meet healthcare-grade requirements while maintaining a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Lighting, acoustics, and ventilation were all carefully considered to create a calming environment that supports patient healing and staff wellbeing. The use of natural finishes and subtle branding throughout the space reinforces Cornerstone’s identity as a trusted, community-oriented practice.

Located in the North Asheville/Woodfin corridor, the clinic is strategically placed to serve both established neighborhoods and a growing population. This project demonstrates our firm’s expertise in medical office design, adaptive reuse, and creating patient-centered healthcare environments that blend comfort with clinical functionality.

By translating Cornerstone’s mission into built form, we helped deliver a space that supports high-quality care, operational efficiency, and a meaningful connection to the surrounding community.
