This project involved a thoughtful addition and renovation to an existing rustic cabin located in the scenic town of Marshall, North Carolina. Our architectural team was focused on preserving the cabin’s original character while introducing new spaces and modern amenities to improve comfort and functionality.
One of the key exterior renovation elements was the repair and expansion of the existing porch, a beloved feature of the cabin. The porch was carefully restored to maintain its historic charm, and new sections were seamlessly integrated to enhance outdoor living and provide additional sheltered space. To further elevate the cabin’s curb appeal and durability, we installed new cedar shake and lap siding, materials chosen for their natural aesthetic, weather resistance, and ability to blend harmoniously with the wooded surroundings.

Inside, significant changes were made to the basement level. The renovation included updates to the existing bathrooms and bedrooms, improving usability and comfort while respecting the cabin’s cozy atmosphere. Modern finishes and improved layouts create a welcoming space that better supports family living and guest accommodations.
A centerpiece of the project was the design and construction of a 400-square-foot addition that introduced a luxurious master bedroom and master bathroom, alongside a new entryway. This new master suite provides a private retreat, designed with ample natural light, thoughtful storage solutions, and high-end fixtures. The entryway addition enhances both aesthetics and functionality, welcoming residents and guests with a refreshed sense of arrival.
This Marshall cabin renovation and addition exemplifies our firm’s expertise in combining historic preservation with modern residential design. We create homes that honor their natural settings while adapting to contemporary lifestyles—ensuring lasting value, comfort, and style.
