Located in a well-known East Asheville plaza, Copper Crown is a locally loved restaurant that blends approachable cuisine with thoughtful hospitality. Our architecture firm was selected to lead the commercial interior fit-out and hospitality design for this unique dining establishment. The project required a balance of functional efficiency and aesthetic appeal to support both daytime and evening service models—all within the constraints of a multi-tenant commercial space.
The restaurant’s name, Copper Crown, pays homage to the distinctive metallic roof that tops the plaza in which it resides. This contextual reference served as inspiration for key design elements throughout the space, creating visual connections between the restaurant and its architectural surroundings.
The layout and interior design were developed to support the restaurant’s dual service model: a relaxed, counter-service atmosphere for lunch and a more intimate, full-service dining experience in the evening. This required flexible seating arrangements, adaptable lighting, and a clear organizational flow that could shift seamlessly between service styles without disrupting the customer experience.

A full-service bar was integrated as a central design feature—functioning as both a gathering space and visual anchor. Behind the bar, custom millwork and material selections subtly reference the warm tones of copper, adding character and continuity to the brand identity. Durable yet refined finishes were selected to withstand the high traffic of a restaurant environment while maintaining a sense of casual elegance.
Our firm worked closely with the ownership team to ensure that every square foot supported both operational efficiency and guest comfort. The result is a welcoming, adaptable space that enhances the neighborhood’s dining scene and reflects the values of a locally owned business.
This project showcases our expertise in restaurant architecture, commercial tenant improvements, and adaptive design strategies for small businesses within existing retail centers.
