Large modern industrial garage with concrete floors and large windows

Peakview Garage

Asheville, NC

After designing their custom home, our clients returned to us with a new vision—this time for a multi-functional hobby barn located on their property in Asheville, North Carolina. Collaborating closely with our South Carolina office, we created a dynamic, personalized outbuilding that blends utility, recreation, and architectural expression.

This custom-designed barn was conceived as a flexible space to support the clients’ active lifestyle and growing collection of cars, bikes, and gear. Unlike a typical storage structure, this modern barn elevates functionality into something experiential. At the heart of the space is a full-sized indoor half pipe, making it a rare and creative environment for skateboarding and recreation—right in the comfort of their own backyard.

The main level is outfitted for vehicle storage and workshop use, with ample space, durable finishes, and optimized circulation for working on or displaying cars and motorcycles. Every square foot was designed with purpose, from ceiling height to lighting, ensuring the space meets both practical needs and aesthetic standards.

Above the main floor, a lofted second-story space adds additional versatility—perfect for a guest retreat, lounge, studio, or private getaway. Expansive windows allow for natural light and views of the surrounding landscape, tying the interior back to the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Clad in durable, low-maintenance materials, the structure reflects a modern interpretation of traditional barn architecture, with a design that complements the existing home and landscape.

This project is a prime example of our client-centered design philosophy and seamless collaboration across regional offices. Whether designing full residences or secondary structures, we are committed to creating spaces that reflect our clients’ passions, lifestyles, and long-term goals.
