Located prominently on Asheville Highway, this rustic-industrial eatery brings new life to an existing structure through a series of strategic architectural upgrades designed by Form & Function Architecture.
Our firm was engaged to reimagine the building’s functionality while preserving its authentic, down-to-earth charm. The renovation included a complete redesign of the commercial kitchen and bathroom layouts, carefully planned to optimize workflow, improve accessibility, and meet modern code compliance for health and safety. We also developed plans for a new roof structure and a spacious covered patio, significantly enhancing the building’s exterior presence and expanding its usable space for year-round outdoor dining.
The architectural style of the Pisgah Bakehouse blends rustic warmth with industrial durability—featuring exposed brick, natural wood finishes, and metal detailing throughout. The centerpiece of the interior is a large, wood-fired brick pizza oven, not only a functional element but also a design focal point that reinforces the bakehouse’s culinary identity.
The newly added expansive outdoor patio creates a welcoming, flexible gathering space ideal for casual dining, community events, and weekend foot traffic. Covered seating, ambient lighting, and direct access from the main dining area make it a natural extension of the interior space.
