Kasa Downtown Asheville

42 FUrman Avenue, Asheville, NC

This transformative renovation project reimagines a 1920s-era building into a vibrant, boutique-style short-term rental property in the heart of Asheville, North Carolina. Spanning four floors, the building now houses 16 uniquely themed residential units, each inspired by one of the four seasons. The result is an immersive and memorable hospitality experience that blends historic preservation with modern functionality.

Each unit has been individually designed to reflect the mood and palette of spring, summer, fall, or winter—featuring custom finishes, curated furnishings, and original local artwork that brings regional identity into every space. This thematic approach not only creates a strong visual identity but also enhances the overall guest experience, helping the property stand out in a competitive short-term rental market.

The renovation prioritized both flexibility and comfort, making each unit suitable for short-term stays or extended visits. Fully equipped kitchenettes, modern appliances, and thoughtfully planned layouts provide guests with all the conveniences of home while maintaining the feel of a high-end boutique hotel.

Designed to serve both business travelers and leisure tourists, the project focused on maximizing occupancy rates without compromising on design integrity. The architecture firm’s role included a full reworking of the building’s interior infrastructure, code compliance updates, sound insulation, and systems integration—while carefully preserving historic exterior details that speak to the building’s 1920s origins.

This project is a testament to the power of adaptive reuse architecture, turning an aging structure into a dynamic, income-generating property that celebrates both the past and present. With its creative concept, strong visual storytelling, and hospitality-forward design, this renovation adds new life and long-term value to one of Asheville’s historic architectural assets.
