Located in the heart of downtown Hendersonville, North Carolina, Postero is a standout example of adaptive reuse architecture, blending contemporary dining experiences with the preserved charm of a historic structure. Housed within the iconic First Bank and Trust Building, this restaurant renovation project reimagines early 20th-century architecture into a modern culinary destination.
Our design team was tasked with transforming the historic space into a vibrant and functional restaurant that honors the building’s character while supporting the operational needs of a high-end, seasonally driven kitchen. The project preserved key architectural features—such as tall ceilings, expansive windows, and classical detailing—while introducing a new layout optimized for flow, efficiency, and ambiance.

At the heart of the restaurant is a fully open kitchen, where guests can observe chefs at work. This design feature reinforces Postero’s commitment to transparency and craftsmanship while creating a dynamic and engaging atmosphere. The kitchen is positioned as a visual anchor for the dining room, encouraging connection between staff and guests.
Another signature architectural element is the addition of loft-style seating, providing an elevated dining experience that enhances spatial variety and maximizes usable square footage. This area offers a unique perspective on the kitchen below and the historic interior architecture above, making it one of the most sought-after seating options in the restaurant.

Postero’s interior design complements its seasonally changing menu, with natural materials, subtle textures, and timeless finishes that evolve effortlessly alongside fresh culinary offerings. The design balances modern minimalism with historical integrity, creating a space that feels both refined and welcoming.
This project showcases our expertise in restaurant architecture, historic renovations, and hospitality-driven design solutions. Postero is not just a place to dine—it’s an immersive experience rooted in design, history, and culinary innovation.
