Our architecture firm was selected to lead the office expansion for General Insurance Services of Asheville, a long-standing and community-focused insurance provider known for their customer-first approach—including their signature “voice mail free” policy, which ensures that clients always speak directly to a real person.
Located in the heart of Asheville, the company had outgrown its original ground-floor office space and needed to expand into the building’s second floor to accommodate its growing team and increasing operational demands. The goal of this project was to create a professional, efficient, and people-centered work environment that reflects the organization’s values and enhances day-to-day functionality.
Our design team worked closely with the client to convert an underutilized upper level into a modern office suite, complete with open workstations, private offices, collaborative meeting rooms, and flexible work areas. The floor plan was carefully developed to promote staff interaction, support efficient workflow, and maintain acoustic privacy—a crucial factor in an industry where sensitive client conversations are a daily part of operations.
Natural light was maximized through strategic placement of glazed partitions and interior windows, creating a bright and uplifting atmosphere. Interior finishes were selected to project professionalism and warmth, balancing durable materials with timeless aesthetics.
By expanding vertically rather than relocating, the company was able to remain in its familiar location while gaining the space and functionality needed to support long-term growth. The result is a seamless integration of old and new, with the second floor designed to complement the existing space and uphold the brand’s commitment to accessibility, reliability, and personal service.
