Hillman Brewery

25 Sweeten Creek Rd, Asheville, NC

Located along scenic Sweeten Creek in Asheville, North Carolina, Hillman Brewery brings a refreshing take on the region’s vibrant craft beer scene by combining traditional pub-style atmosphere with a strong architectural connection to the outdoors. Designed to foster a warm, social, and community-centered environment, this project reflects a seamless blend of hospitality design and site-sensitive planning.

Our architectural firm worked closely with the Hillman team to translate their vision of a neighborhood brewpub into a thoughtfully designed space that encourages gathering while celebrating Asheville’s natural surroundings. The result is a venue that feels both inviting and open—a destination where locals and visitors can enjoy handcrafted beer in an environment that balances industrial charm with natural beauty.

A defining architectural feature of Hillman Brewery is the installation of large glass-paneled garage doors, which blur the line between interior and exterior spaces. These operable doors allow the tasting room to fully open to the expansive outdoor patio, creating a dynamic indoor-outdoor flow that adapts with the seasons. Whether closed during cooler months or fully open on a sunny afternoon, the design ensures guests feel connected to the surrounding landscape year-round.

The outdoor patio itself was designed as a key extension of the dining and drinking experience, offering ample seating, greenery, and views of Sweeten Creek. This outdoor space not only enhances the guest experience but also expands the brewery’s capacity for hosting events, live music, and community gatherings.

This project showcases our expertise in commercial and hospitality architecture, particularly in the craft brewery sector. Hillman Brewery stands as a successful example of how thoughtful design can support brand identity, enhance user experience, and foster meaningful community engagement.
