Outsider Brewing

939 Riverside Dr, Asheville, NC

This newly completed brewery and dining space in Asheville, North Carolina was designed to create an immersive, educational experience by blurring the lines between the brewing process and the customer experience. More than just a place to enjoy craft beer, this project is a thoughtfully designed environment where visitors can engage with the art and science of brewing—all from the comfort of their table.

Our team worked closely with the client to develop a transparent, open-concept floor plan that places the brewing equipment at the center of the experience. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls separate the dining and brewing areas, allowing guests to observe each stage of the brewing process in real time—creating a unique connection between craft and consumer. Unlike traditional breweries where production is tucked away, here the process is proudly on display.

The design emphasizes functionality, visibility, and hospitality. Brewers are encouraged to interact with guests, answering questions and offering insights into ingredients, fermentation, and technique. This interactive layout supports brewery tours, tasting events, and an ongoing dialogue between staff and patrons, enriching the customer experience and deepening brand loyalty.

Material choices, lighting design, and spatial planning were carefully considered to support both industrial performance and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Concrete floors, stainless steel equipment, reclaimed wood finishes, and custom lighting elements work together to create a space that feels modern, approachable, and rooted in the craft brewing tradition.

This project showcases how architectural design can enhance storytelling, transparency, and customer engagement—helping breweries not only serve great beer but also build community around their process. The result is a space that invites curiosity, fosters learning, and transforms a visit into an experience.
